Date formatting difficulties

I tried using the date format of "m/d/yyyy", but this did not work (it kept the literals "m" and "d" in the date after selecting from the calendar). But, if I use "mm/dd/yyyy" and my related input contains a date without leading zeroes, i.e. 06/01/2006, then the calendar does not default to the correct date when I bring it up.

Any suggestions?

The calendar doesn't support formats like m/d/yyyy at the moment. I need to implement support for this. I will do that as soon as possible.
