I'm playing around with the DHTML Suite for Applications and building my framework off of the existing demo menu. I'm trying to add a menu option that, when clicked, will open a Weather Site in the middle box on the screen.

All my previous attempts have failed so I'm looking to see if this can actuall be done.

You cannot open external sites via Ajax. An alternative is to open a local page with an iframe pointing to the weather site.
